Another dull day at the office – coldly lit rooms, emotionless faces and grey carpeted landscapes dominate the scene. A sea of heads moves like waves from one side of their desks to the other.
Must the office remain monotonous and bland, or could we disintegrate its image to become something else?
The rolling office chair – designed to optimize even the subtlest human movement – symbolizes this world of precision and efficiency. Our proposal seeks to deconstruct this image, breathing new life and purpose into the chairs rolling „foot.“
Frame turns Lamp.
The five-legged chrome frame of the office chair is dismantled and joined with a second identical frame by using a steel tube. The hollow arms of the structure provide a seamless path for electrical wiring, guiding it through the tubular steel frame. Once-used caster sockets are now repurposed as fittings for five radiant LED lights, illuminating the upper part of the lamp. Meanwhile, the remaining wheels at the base preserve it‘s mobility, allowing the light to glide effortlessly through space—an object in motion.
